Summary

Trouble is haunting Cassidy Blake 。 。 。 even more than usual。

She (plus her ghost best friend, Jacob, of course) are in Paris, where Cass's parents are filming their TV show about the world's most haunted cities。 Sure, it's fun eating croissants and seeing the Eiffel Tower, but there's true ghostly danger lurking beneath Paris, in the creepy underground Catacombs。

When Cass accidentally awakens a frighteningly strong spirit, she must rely on her still-growing skills as a ghosthunter -- and turn to friends both old and new to help her unravel a mystery。 But time is running out, and the spirit is only growing stronger。

And if Cass fails, the force she's unleashed could haunt the city forever。

#1 New York Times bestselling author Victoria Schwab returns to the spooky and heart-pounding world of City of Ghosts, delivering thrilling new adventures and an unforgettable spin on friendship。 (Because sometimes, even psychic ghost best friends have secrets。 。 。)

I honestly think my favourite part of these books is learning about the events as Cassidy does。 Her parents explore and take her to all kinds of haunted places and she gets to learn with us。

Catacombs, a poltergeist, general mayhem and chaos。。。 It's the perfect recipe for a ghost story。 But I can't really put my finger on why, exactly, Tunnel Of Bones didn't thrill me as much as City Of Ghosts did - it's odd, considering how intense the storyline is。 I think it was the writing, not necessarily the story itself, that threw me a bit。 Ghosts flowed smoothly and before I knew it I was finished with the book; Bones felt a bit more clunky, for lack of a better word。 Still, I loved the atm Catacombs, a poltergeist, general mayhem and chaos。。。 It's the perfect recipe for a ghost story。 But I can't really put my finger on why, exactly, Tunnel Of Bones didn't thrill me as much as City Of Ghosts did - it's odd, considering how intense the storyline is。 I think it was the writing, not necessarily the story itself, that threw me a bit。 Ghosts flowed smoothly and before I knew it I was finished with the book; Bones felt a bit more clunky, for lack of a better word。 Still, I loved the atmosphere of the Catacombs, and I love how Schwab seamlessly integrated history and facts about the city of Paris。Reading the Cassidy Blake series makes me feel a bit like a kid at a festival - there are so many exciting things happening, and I'm torn between wanting to speed through the pages like a madwoman and read at a normal pace to savour the story。 Perhaps when I get my greedy little gremlin hands on Bridge Of Souls I'll find that happy medium。。。 But I doubt it。4。5 stars 。。。more

I love that these books are so easy to breeze through。 Victoria Schwab transports me into her stories and worlds every single time, and TUNNEL OF BONES was no exception。Traveling the streets of Paris with Cassidy and her family (and Jacob) was simply delightful, the atmosphere was immaculate, the adventure was so much fun, and the ghost-hunting was all kinds of creepy and cool 😉The only critique I have is that the friendship between Cassidy and Jacob doesn’t pull at my heartstrings as much as I I love that these books are so easy to breeze through。 Victoria Schwab transports me into her stories and worlds every single time, and TUNNEL OF BONES was no exception。Traveling the streets of Paris with Cassidy and her family (and Jacob) was simply delightful, the atmosphere was immaculate, the adventure was so much fun, and the ghost-hunting was all kinds of creepy and cool 😉The only critique I have is that the friendship between Cassidy and Jacob doesn’t pull at my heartstrings as much as I wish it would。 Usually, MG books do friendships like no other genre, but the friendship aspect in the CASSIDY BLAKE series is a little weaker。 Regardless, it’s still a series I’m highly enjoying。 I love all the ghost stories that Schwab decides to focus on for each of the installments and Cassidy herself is a darling (and Lara is a badass, I certainly hope to see more of her!)。 。。。more

The story was fun and entertaining。 It's middle grade but I think there's something for all ages to enjoy。 It would have been a 5 star for me if it weren't for SO MANY Harry Potter references。 I love Harry Potter (I'm a millenial) but I guarantee the target demographic of this book aren't understanding these references and they just detract from the story。 The story was fun and entertaining。 It's middle grade but I think there's something for all ages to enjoy。 It would have been a 5 star for me if it weren't for SO MANY Harry Potter references。 I love Harry Potter (I'm a millenial) but I guarantee the target demographic of this book aren't understanding these references and they just detract from the story。 。。。more

hmm I think I liked this book more than the first book。。。 maybe because the author didn't have to EXPLAIN more about the last book。。 but she did so umm nvm。。。 the 2nd book was better I thinkI umm had to read the whole entire book to figure out how Jacob died。。 I thought if I read the 2nd book it would start of with saying how he died but I had to read the WHOLE ENTIRE BOOK AND THE ENDING- (well- 2nd to last chapter) said how he died。。。InTEreStING way to die。。。 maybe if his little brother DID lis hmm I think I liked this book more than the first book。。。 maybe because the author didn't have to EXPLAIN more about the last book。。 but she did so umm nvm。。。 the 2nd book was better I thinkI umm had to read the whole entire book to figure out how Jacob died。。 I thought if I read the 2nd book it would start of with saying how he died but I had to read the WHOLE ENTIRE BOOK AND THE ENDING- (well- 2nd to last chapter) said how he died。。。InTEreStING way to die。。。 maybe if his little brother DID listen to Jacob when he said "don't put the action figure in the water" Jacob wouldn't have died。。。 but It was uhh kinda good Jacob died cause he could help Cass and he's kinda helpful。。I really feel like then last book would be like a plot twist or something and tuns out Jacob was some creepy guy and kills Cass。。。 but umm hopefulky that doesn't happen。。。 If Jacob could read my mind (and he is somehow real) and I was correct I bet he would be laughing nervously。。。OH YEA Lara seems cool。。。 and that girl (I forgot her name) was umm very cool cause she listens so- AMAZINGLY! I would love to have a friend like her。。。 she beilives things so easily which helped Cass to figure out about that Thomas guy。。。 if that girl didn't help with the pictures and stories than uhh I think Cass wouldn't have been able to do much。。。 that girls mom tho was a little annoying。。 but she's kinda reasonable?yayyayayayayayayyayayayayayyayayayayayyayayayyayayayayayayayayayayyayayayayayyayayayayayay(ur welcome) 。。。more

Great experiences in Pars this Time。 I like the way Cassidy is handling the interaction with her best friend Jacob。 Im ready for the next experience, continuing with all the exploratory trips the family Blake is doing。

3。5/5 stars。This was pretty fun ! Sadly books written by non french people set in France are harder for me to fully enjoy。。。 the narrator's accent on certain french words pulled me out of the story and excuse me but a small 7yo french boy called Thomas would not answer to his name pronounced like the narrator does ! The S is silent in french so its pronounced "Thomah", it really bugged me for some reason x) Other than that i really liked Jacob but i still dont like Cassidy all that much, she is 3。5/5 stars。This was pretty fun ! Still testing out her newly found powers, Cassidy finds that she is haunted by something a lot stronger than a normal ghost and must muster together the skill, courage, and quick thinking required to get herself out of its grasp。 Thankfully, Jacob (sweet, sweet Jacob) is always there to help her。As a reading experience, this was fairly good。 It wasn’t what I was expecting, as the story had dropped hints at a rather sinister person that I thought might be the main villain in this story。 However, they never showed up (at least for most of the story)。 They were only mentioned once, so I’ve actually forgotten the name (and, I’ve stupidly returned the audiobook, so I can’t find it again!)。 I did not find myself enjoying this one as much as I had the first installment, but I rarely enjoy the second part of a trilogy。 I don’t know why, but there it is。I did miss Lara and the banter between her, Cassidy, and Jacob。 I did get a little bit of it here and there when Cassidy would call her up to ask for advice, but it just wasn’t the same。 The story unfolded a bit too slowly and I didn’t feel myself as drawn in as I was with City of Ghosts。 I think it was probably because the ghost in City of Ghosts had so much more lore behind it than the ghost in Tunnel of Bones does。However, I really did love the fact that we finally find out about how Jacob died。 I won’t put it here so as not to spoil it, but it did add more depth to his character。 I feel like this entire book helped strengthen the friendship between Cassidy and Jacob really well, which was really nice to see。 I love their friendship so much!!! One last thing: I did like how it ended。 And I didn’t。 Let me explain。 (view spoiler)[I loved that a new villain was introduced and this one seems to be quite a powerful one。 However, I do wish that we had caught glimpses of this one a bit sooner。 It would have been cool to have hints of his existence throughout the book。 Or maybe there were hints and I missed them, in which case that might be my fault。 Either way, I am looking forward to see more of this skull masked man。 (hide spoiler)]I’ve already put the audiobook for Bridge of Souls on hold on Libby, so hopefully I get it soon! 。。。more
